Summer in Kreischberg — what to do in June, July and August
In the summer, Kreischberg reveals its most versatile side. The mountain lifts are running, hiking and cycling routes are on the doorstep, and the region offers something different to do every day, from active to relaxing, from trips to Graz to an afternoon swim in one of the nearby lakes.
Kreischberg in the summer is not a mass tourism destination. That is precisely what makes it special: space on the paths, peace in the village, and fresh mountain air at an altitude of 860 meters while the rest of Europe is sweltering in the heat.
The Kreischberg gondola in the summer
The Kreischberg Sommerbahn takes you up into the mountains, and that is the starting point for the most beautiful panoramic hikes in the region.
Opening hours 2026
- June 5 to June 26: Fridays only, 09:00–16:00
- July 1 to August 29: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 09:00–16:00

Routes towards the Scharfes Eck, the Gstoder, and the panoramic high-altitude walks start at the station top. The gondola saves a significant amount of altitude gain if you want to enjoy the scenery more than climb.
