A culinary day from Kreischberg

Combine food and drink with an activity: coffee and sandwiches before departure at Stocklauser, lunch on the mountain at the Kreischbergwirt or Rieglerhütte, and in the evening head to Murau for dinner and a glass of local beer. This way, even a day without a major excursion naturally becomes a mini culinary tour.

Practical tips for food & drink

Reserve for dinner

Reservations are advisable, especially during the high season and on weekends. Furthermore, at smaller inns, kitchen hours may be more limited than the general opening hours.

Note the rest period and season opening.

In Austria, many restaurants have one or two fixed closing days per week. Additionally, mountain huts and restaurants on the Kreischberg may be dependent on gondola operation, the season, and the weather. Therefore, always check the current opening hours on the day itself.

With children

Ottl's Wirtshaus, Schafferwirt, Kreischbergwirt, and Rieglerhütte are attractive choices for families because they offer play areas or other amenities for children.

Our tip for a first evening
