Brauerei der Sinne — experience beer with all the senses
More than just a brewery visit
The Brauerei der Sinne is designed as an interactive experience. You follow the brewing process from start to finish and learn how Murauer Beer is made using clear spring water, regional ingredients, and modern, sustainable brewing techniques. Sight, sound, smell, and taste are deliberately integrated into the tour.
Show brewery and specialty beers
One of the highlights is the small tasting and show brewery. Here, alongside the well-known Murauer beers, smaller and more creative brews are produced, including styles such as Pale Ale and Stout. As a result, the tour is also interesting for beer lovers who want to look beyond the classic Austrian Märzen.
More than 500 years of beer history
The brewery history of Murau dates back to 1495. In the museum section, you can see how brewing has developed over the centuries and the role that water, wood, and the Murau region play in this.

The Murau Beer Tasting — Five Beer Specialties
Tasting in the beer cellar
The actual beer tasting follows at the end of the tour. According to current information from Murauer Bier, five Murauer specialty beers are included. This allows you to try different flavors side by side and discover how strongly malt, hops, and brewing style determine the character of a beer.
What is included?
The regular tour includes five beer tastings, a light snack, and a free Murauer tasting glass. The total duration of the tour is approximately two hours.
Price 2026
Murauer Bier currently lists a regular admission price of €18 per person. Different rates apply for groups, young people, students, schoolchildren, and pensioners. Always check the current price when booking, as regional tourism pages sometimes display older rates.
After the tour — Beer Pharmacy in the city center
Keep tasting for a little while longer
Those who are not yet finished with the Murauer beer culture after the tour can continue to the Bierapotheke. Located in the historic center of Murau, it combines a cozy hospitality venue with a shop specializing in Murauer beer and regional products.
A lovely end to the afternoon
The Bierapotheke is located a short distance from the brewery, making it a perfect fit after a tour. Order another Murauer beer specialty, then stroll through the Old Town or combine the visit with dinner at one of the restaurants in the city center.
Alternative — schnapps and liqueur tasting in Mariahof

Why is it nice as an extra?

Even more regional flavors from Murau
Pine schnapps
One of the most famous drinks from the region is Zirbenschnaps, made from young cones of the Alpine pine. The drink has a distinctly resinous, spicy character and a typical reddish color. You can find Zirben products at various producers and local shops in the region.
Murtaler Steirerkäse
Those who prefer to eat while tasting can look for Murtaler Steirerkäse. This aromatic regional cheese is used in soups and Kasnocken, among other dishes, and is a nice complement to the local drinks.
Make it a culinary afternoon
A great combination is: lunch in Murau, a guided tour at 2:00 PM, a beer tasting at the brewery, followed by a short walk through the old town, and finishing at the Bierapotheke or with dinner in Murau. This way, the beer tasting becomes part of a complete afternoon out.
