Will you be with us in mid-October? Then you can ride the historic steam train of the Murtalbahn one last time. On Saturday, October 17, it will puff through the Murtal for the last time this season, from Murau to Stadl an der Mur.
An afternoon on the tracks
The train departs from Murau station at 14:30. In approximately 40 minutes, you travel along the Mur, through forests and meadows, to Stadl an der Mur. There, the steam locomotive's water tender is refilled, a great opportunity to view the locomotive up close and take photos. Afterwards, it returns to Murau.
On board, Styrian musicians create the atmosphere with their harmonicas. The steam train travels through a colorful Murtal in autumn, making this ride even more worthwhile.
Discount with the Murau GästeCard
With the Murau GästeCard, you receive a 30% discount on your ticket. The GästeCard is valid this year up to and including November 2nd. As a guest of Kreischberg Suites, you receive it with your stay.

After October 17, the steam train will run on two more holidays: the Christkindlzug on December 24 and the Dreikönigsdampfzug on January 6, 2027. The Steiermarkbahn will announce the full summer program for 2027 later.
